Privacy controls
What's never recorded, and how to pause, exclude and forget.
Never recorded
- Password managers (1Password, Bitwarden, LastPass, Dashlane, KeePassXC, Apple Passwords, Keychain Access) — excluded by default.
- Anything while a password field has focus (macOS secure input).
- Private / incognito windows in Chrome-based browsers.
- Orbix itself, and anything while the screen is locked or the Mac is asleep.
Your controls
- Pause from Settings, the menu-bar menu, or
/pause. A dot on the menu-bar icon shows when memory is recording. - Exclude apps in Settings → Never record.
- Forget the last hour, today, or everything from one app — or delete all memory.
- Keep memories for 1 week, 1 month, 3 months (default), 1 year, or forever.
- Turn screen text, clipboard or file tracking off separately.
Where it's stored
In ~/Library/Application Support/Orbix/memory.sqlite, readable only by your macOS account and protected by FileVault when it's on. It's never uploaded. When you ask something, the few memories needed for the answer are sent to the AI you chose, as part of that request.
